On Wednesday April 1, six girls competed for two titles:
Miss Tulelake and Miss Butte Valley. A panel of eight judges
conducted interviews.

The applicants from Butte Valley were Kai Braren, Vanessa
Salazar-Rabledo, and Rebekah Zarzynski. The Tulelake
applicants included Michelle Rupert, Alexandria Greenbank,
and Alma Vidrio.
The Committee of judges, who were very impressed with the
quality and depth of the applicants, selected Rebekah
(Becky) Zarzynski as Miss Butte Valley and Alexandria (Lexie)
Greenbank as Miss Tulelake both of which will be eligible to
receive a $250 scholarship to help further their continued
education.
Rebekah (Becky) Zarzynski is a 16 year old Junior at
Butte-Valley High school. Becky is the daughter of Ken &
Daintry Zarzynski. She has two sisters Sarah and LeeAnn. She
enjoys sports, reading, walking her dog, working with
children and socializing.
Becky is a hardworking, fun loving, friendly social, average
teenage girl who loves to make other happy.. She is very
involved at BVHS. She helps at local preschools and
churches, she participates in FFA, is the president of her
class, works in the community garden and helped at the local
blood drive.
After graduating from BVHS Becky would like to attend a
university and study to become a high school math or history
teacher, or a preschool teacher. After obtaining her degree
she would like to return to Butte Valley to teach.
Alexandria (Lexie) Greenbank is a 16 year old sophomore at
Tulelake High School. Lexie is the daughter of Ron and Jill

and softball.
After graduating from THS Lexie plans to attend a 4 yr
university and study in the medical or agricultural field.
Upon receiving her degree she hopes to return to Tulelake
and serve the community in the many ways it has served her.
As hostesses of the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair the girls
look forward to rising to the occasion of representing their
fair at various festivals and fairs this summer and fall.
Some of the venues the Fair Court has attended in the past
include, Siskiyou Golden Fair, Klamath County Fair, Modoc
District Fair, and Dorris 4th of July Celebration. The
highlight of the girl’s rein will be representing the
Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair as they each attend to their
royal duties throughout the duration of the fair September
10th-13th. As the fair approaches, listen for the girls on
the radio as they will be keeping the public informed of
events going on during this year at the Tulelake-Butte
Valley Fair where we will be celebrating our theme of
“Country Scenes and Children’s Dreams”! Please visit the
fairs website at www.tbvfair.com to stay informed on all the
great new entertainment coming to the 2009 fair!
We would also like to thank the following; Holliday Jewelry
for donating the tiaras for each of the girls,
Ribbon-N-Print for making the sashes, Little Brick Shirt
House for donating the letters on the sashes, as well as the
judges for donating their time.
