2007 Tulelake-Butte
Valley Fair Experiences Record Setting Fair
The 2007 Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair was the most successful
on record. During the fair board’s September meeting on
Sept. 19, Dave Dillabo, chief executive officer (CEO)
announced that the 2007 fair was a record-setting fair,
setting new record level concession and carnival revenues.
Dillabo attributed much of the success to the great weather,
the fair staff and the continued support from the local area
communities.
Most substantial of all, was the Rotary Junior Livestock
auction that generated more than $225,000, an increase of
over $75,000 from the 2006 sale.
“We’re extremely pleased with how successful all aspects of
this year’s fair was,” said Dave Dillabo. A successful fair
allows us to continue to bring new events and attractions
next year for the public to enjoy.”
According to Dillabo, 65 percent of the fair’s operating
budget must be generated locally, so community support is
key to the fair’s long-term success.
Other highlights from this year’s fair included the sold-out
Kellie Pickler concert, at which local talent Alexis Ebert
opened for the capacity-filled grandstand. Fairgoers that
attended the concert, as well as the rodeo on Friday night,
had an opportunity to see the Oregon Army National Guard in
action as they rappelled from the grandstand roof to
celebrate the National Anthem.
This year’s fair included many new attractions for the whole
family to enjoy such as The Fables of the West, Jeremy the
Juggler, Ronnie the Roundhouse Clown and the most popular of
all, Humphrey’s Farmyard Fun, which caught the attention of
many youngsters and family members. “Humphrey’s Farmyard Fun
was a great show that provided an enjoyable and educational
experience for the youth and we are looking forward to
bringing it back again next year, said Dillabo.”
Robert A. Byrne Company was named Farmer of the Year during
the second annual Farmer and Rancher Appreciation Day. This
year’s fair theme was Water Flowin’ Keeps it Growin’, a
fitting tribute to the area’s agricultural bounty.
Larry Main was the Grand Marshall for the 2007 Tulelake-Butte
Valley Fair parade. Main was honored for his substantial
contributions to the fair and the community and for his
military service.
The 2008 Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair will be held Sept. 3-8. |
